Maxwell Paulus -
Musician, Entrepeneur

After the growth of the Paulus Antiques empire, Maxwell hired his right hand Samuel Centeno, another transplant to New Orleans who found his way to the city for his graduate degree at Tulane University.

The pair met at the world-famous Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas, where they exchanged ideas about art, business, and entrepeneurship. As a data analyst, Samuel saw the growth of Paulus Antiques into an international business, as well as helping with the diversification of the antiques obtained and the quality of products.

A transplant from Fresno, California, Maxwell Paulus made his way East toward the Big Easy following his career as a musician.

The arts and an interest for finer things were not foreign topics for Maxwell.

While looking for business ideas, Maxwell Paulus walked on a summer afternoon down the famous Royal Street on the French Quarter where he found an estate sale, full of antiques being auctioned at surprisingly low prices.

He saw the opportunity in the endeavor of curated antiques. The antique empire was born when Maxwell Paulus purchased his first set of antique plates, reselling them for a fair price. The rest is history.
